Technical counterpart · Zapatoca · Santander · Colombia
CIDERT acts as a qualified technical counterpart for institutions that fund sustainable rural development: royalties, international cooperation, environmental markets, corporate social responsibility and academic partnerships. The whole network of rural districts and associations benefits from every agreement we manage.
Funding sources
The sources CIDERT works to access as a technical counterpart. Ranges are typical amounts for each source, not funds already secured.

Universities and higher education
The technical knowledge the network needs — agroforestry, environmental monitoring, rural economics, agrarian law, marketing — rarely sits in a single institution. CIDERT seeks partnerships with universities and technical institutes in Santander to bring applied research, internships and certified training to the territory.
Theses, research groups and student research teams from regional universities — such as UIS, UNAB, UDES, UPB Bucaramanga and Unipaz — could take Zapatoca's peasant territory as a case study in agroforestry, hydrology, biodiversity and peasant economy.
Final-year students in environmental, agronomy, veterinary, social or business programs could do their internships on the network's projects, jointly supervised by the university and CIDERT.
As with SENA, CIDERT seeks university extension agreements to bring diplomas, short courses and certified technical assistance directly to rural districts.

How it works
The same process whether the source is a municipality, a cooperation agency or a university — with the Territorial Roundtable as the space for decisions and accountability.
We identify the right funder or ally for a need prioritized by the network.
The technical team designs the project in the format each source requires: Colombia's public investment methodology for royalties, logical frameworks for cooperation, framework agreements for universities.
CIDERT manages the agreement as technical counterpart, representing the network before the funding institution.
The project is carried out with the network's associations and reported to the quarterly Territorial Roundtable, with accounts open to members and allies.
